London Living III

Well somewhere in between trips away you sometimes forget you are in one of the largest and most vibrant cities in the world (when the sun starts to arise!) Since a New Years spent here enjoying the fireworks or lack of them between the clouds (the Gerard and Bee show once again failed to launch on New Year’s - Hermit Crab Day as it is becoming known) we have been enjoying a clear change in temperature, clearly caused by Bee’s stirring belly dancing performances! Once again she took centre stage, and after receiving the DVD it’s clear the fellas behind the camera had to wipe off the drool from the corner of their mouths...

An absolute bonanza of a day it was as Oxford v Cambridge preceded the belly dancing and topped off what was a great day. Standing around a bit of water waiting for a couple of relatively long boats to fly past doesn’t sound like anything out of the entertaining box but throw in some Scottish and a lawn and it somehow seems to work! As it turned out Oxford came away with the cookies in the race from Putney Bridge – Barnes Bridge straight past our dwelling.

In between a trip to Manchester to check out Old Trafford for a friend’s birthday (and yes we did stop at ‘Old Trafford’ the cricket ground thinking ‘is this it?’), heading to another Fulham game, celebrating Chinese New Year in Leicester Square and (for Bee) heading to Billy Elliot, there has been the usual planning for trips with the added excitement to see family in the next couple of months with little brother Jimmy and parents heading over soon (Gerard) and meeting Bee’s folks and Grand folks in Turin. Ohh and we were accused of trespassing at Lords Cricket Ground, Dumb Aussies, ha ha, must have missed the gift shop....

Some other small bits and pieces we have been up to:

• Paintballing just out of London. What a great day and boy does it hurt when you get shot!
• Peter, Bjorn & John in Camden. Bonus that Sarah Blasko was supporting!
• Chinese New Year down in the heart of the city. Did anyone say fire crackers?
• Enjoying the onset of spring – a perfect opportunity for Gerard to explore the magic of our new camera! Check out below...
